The Faculty of Sciences invites applications for a
Professorship (W 2) in Geography
at the Institute of Geography (Department of Geography and Geosciences).
We are seeking a candidate with demonstrated experience in research and teaching of physical geography with a focus on climate geography. The position requires profound practical experience in gathering climate data in the field and in climate modelling. The research profile of the successful candidate corresponds to the core research areas of both the Institute of Geography and the Department of Geography and Geosciences, ideally including the fields of climate, climate impact, and high mountain research on a regional and global scale. We expect international visibility, active fundraising, and the participation in interdisciplinary research projects. Teaching responsibilities connected with the professorship include all fields of physical geography, especially climatology at the undergraduate and graduate level.
To qualify for the position, applicants must have a university degree, good teaching skills, a doctorate and additional scientific achievements. The latter must be demonstrated by a post-doctoral qualification (Habilitation) or equivalent academic qualifications, which may have been obtained outside the university or during a junior professorship.
With respect to further preconditions for the job, legal provisions apply.
The University of Erlangen-Nürnberg pursues a policy of intense student mentoring and therefore expects its teaching staff to be present during lecture periods.
The successful candidate will be appointed at the earliest possible date.
