Day Trip to Munich

We cordially invite all international scholars, doctorate students and their relatives to this event! Come along on a tour to Munich, the famous and beautiful “capital of Bavaria”. Enjoy a guided bus tour and visit the “Deutsche Museum”, the world's biggest Technical and Natural Science Museum.

Christmas Event at the Welcome Centre

The Welcome Centre invites all international guests at the FAU to meet and celebrate German Christmas traditions and to be prepared for the upcoming holydays.

Hints and Recommendations

 

DAAD scholarship extensions

DAAD stipends who need to extend their scholarship, may please contact Nikolas Kretzschmar ( Welcome Centre) until November 10th to make an appointment for the extension interview. The DAAD application form is available at the Welcome Centre (Please bring all required documents in triple copy along to the extension inter view).

Central Institute for Regional Studies

The Central Institute o rganizes interdisciplinary lectures and colloquia, which focus on current and historic regions. The different sections (North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, Franconia and Middle East) offer a variety of events in German and English during the winter semester 2011/2012 .

Christkindlesmarkt Nürnberg

Every year, people from all over the world visit what is probably Germany's most famous Christmas Market on Nuremberg's Main Market Square. On the Friday before the first Sunday in Advent, the Nuremberg Christmas Angel opens the market with her solemn prol ogue spoken from the gallery of Our Lady's Church. Christmas Market in Erlangen

The Erlangen christmas market in front of the castle, offers a very cozy atmosphere to taste Gluehwein and Lebkuchen.

When: Friday, November 25 th 10:00am to Saturday. December 24 th 2:00pm
Where: Schlossplatz in Erlangen

 

Christmas in Forchheim

The most beautiful advent calendar in the world. During the Christmas season Forchheim`s town hall is turned into the "most beautiful advent calendar in the world". The first window opens on December 1. Every evening numerous visitors gather at the Christmas market in front of the town hall.

When: Saturday, November 26 th to Saturday, December 24 th (10:00am – 7:00pm)

Wanderlust Festival ("Fernwehfestival") Erlangen

The annual wanderlust festival offers an interesting program of presentations and workshops for travel and outdoor enthusiasts.

When: November 16 th – November 20th

St. Martin's parade in Erlangen

The city man agement celebrates on Saturday, November 7th a St. Martin sh opping Saturday. Part of the yearly St. Martin celebrations will be a traditional lantern parade for all children in Erlangen. Watch out the big groups of the smallest illuminated in the darkening.

VHS Club International Erlangen

The international club is a c o mmunication and meeting center for internationals and Germans. If you learn German or a foreign language, you can find native speakers here and also learn about their respective countries and cultures.
